DuPont presents Nomex protective solutions for firefighters at A+A

(Image source: DuPont)DuPont has introduced its new Nomex-based fabrics and innovative protective solutions for firefighters and industry workers at A+A, held from 17-20 October 2017, in Dusseldorf, aiming to provide better protection the thermal effects of electric arcs

The company has also announced the winners of the Nomex Innovation Award 2017, at the first day of the trade show. Around 125 companies in 40 countries all over the globe participated at the trade show, said DuPont.

For firefighters, DuPont presented garments featuring new outer shell fabrics such as Nomex NXT, Nomex 3DP and Nomex 360. The company also introduced the new cutting-edge materials Nomex Nano and Nomex Nano Flex, aiming to provide maximum thermal protection with increased wearer comfort for the industry workers against toxic particles.

In addition, the company also showcased new Nomex brand fibre-based fabrics which combine high arc resistance with optimised wearing comfort, which focuses on protecting industry workers from the thermal hazards of an electrical arc.

A number of Nomex partners participated in awards in 2017, particularly in the 'Fire-Fighting Innovation' and 'Thermal Industrial Innovation' categories. The winners in the ‘Fire-Fighting Innovation’ category are innovative solutions to hazardous particle protection by VIKING Life-Saving Equipment, S-Gard Dynamate by S-GARD Hubert Schmitz GmbH, Bristol's particulate protection hood by Bristol Uniforms Limited and Hex fire intervention by Iturri.

In the ‘Thermal Industrial Innovation’ category, the award went to ppen flame and tick protection garment in Rosneft corporate style by FPG Energocontract.

With an aim to choose the appropriate protective solution for industry workers facing electrical hazards, DuPont also launched the Nomex Knowledge Centre at the trade shoe. The knowledge centre is expected to be a comprehensive virtual hub of tools and information to support safety professionals throughout their decision-making process.

The users will gain access to a step-by-step guide to specifying the right protection for workers, from hazard assessment through to fabric selection and garment recommendations, according to DuPont.
